Adel Bechara was born in Beirut in 1999.

He grew up surrounded by his mother’s art and developed a passion for drawing and designing. He has always loved watching her work and her paintings. Her style varies from abstract work and landscapes, to collages recently.  Although he’s not a fan of painting, he learned a lot about creativity, color use and design from her. From one artist to another, his mother’s opinion still matters the most to him.

In 2017, he moved to Toronto to start his major in Graphic Design and started experimenting with different styles of drawing and design.

When he finally found a style that he really enjoyed, he created his Instagram account to display his drawings and has been investing in it since.

His drawings are one line drawing of celebrities worldwide, one drawing a day is his focus.

A pop culture enthusiast, knowing that Pop art movement aimed to solidify the idea that art can draw from any source, and there is no hierarchy of culture to disrupt this.

Pop art emerged in the 20th century, in reaction to consumerism, mass media, and popular culture. It transitioned away from the theory and methods used in Abstract Expressionism, the leading movement that preceded it.

Instead, it drew upon everyday objects and media like newspapers, comic books, magazines, and other mundane objects to produce vibrant compositions, establishing the movement as a cornerstone of contemporary art. Many artists associated with the movement achieved unprecedented fame and status. Today, Pop art is one of the most instantly recognizable forms of art.

Pop art pioneer Richard Hamilton described it “Pop Art is, popular, transient, expendable, low cost, mass produced, young, witty, sexy, gimmicky, glamorous, big business.”

Adel Bechara’s art is influenced by Pop art and Pop culture and it shows in his drawings they include all Hamilton’s characteristics.
